Maybe meggings can be considered as the most discussed clothing item in men's wardrobe of the year. When I first heard about them, I wasn't as shocked as the people around me. I attend a fashion course at the university and some boys wear them on a daily basis, but, most of all, I knew they weren't anything new.

Forse i meggings possono essere considerati come il capo più discusso del guardaroba maschile dell'anno. Quando ne ho sentito parlare per la prima volta, non ero scioccata quanto le persone intorno a me. Frequento un corso di moda all'università e alcuni ragazzi indossano i meggings tutti i giorni, ma, soprattutto, sapevo che non fossero niente di nuovo.
Men started wearing tight trousers in dark ages. Byzantines wore anaxyrìdes, which were quite tight, brightly-coloured, animal print, and embroidered. This type varied a little bit through the years until XVI century, when men wore tights with under-the-knee trousers on top. We can talk about men trousers as we know them for the first time only in 1830s. They were dark-coloured, looser on the hips, and tighter at the hem.
Did you know it? Do you like meggings? I don't. I don't like skinny pants on men either. You have to be tall and really thin to wear them.

Gli uomini hanno iniziato ad indossare pantaloni stretti nell'Alto Medioevo. I Bizantini indossavano gli anaxyrìdes, che erano abbastanza aderenti, molto colorati, con stampe maculate e decorati. Questo genere è variato un po' durante gli anni fino al XVI secolo, quando gli uomini indossavano delle calze con dei pantaloni sotto il ginocchio. Possiamo parlare dei pantaloni maschili così come li conosciamo per la prima volta solo negli anni Trenta dell'Ottocento. Erano di colori scuri, più morbidi sui fianchi e più stretti all'orlo.
Lo sapevate? Vi piacciono i meggings? A me no. Non mi piacciono neanche i pantaloni skinny sugli uomini. Devi essere alto e molto magro per indossarli.

This is the first monograph on Boris Bidjan Saberi. Obviously the first thing I noticed was the cover. It is rough to the touch in a pleasant way and the title is impressed on the bottom. Maybe because touch is fundamental to fully appreciate Boris' clothes? I don't know.
The photograph on the front is a detail of one of his garments, and the same lace we can see on top is also a book mark in this case. The one on the back shows the upper part of one pair of his famous trousers.
The first part of the book features six bilingual essays written in Italian and English. Each of them is quite short and tells the reader about the designer's roots, inspiration, and techniques.
The last part contains some pictures of Saberi's inspiration, collections, backstage, and here and there we can find some quotes and songs lyrics.
The first essay was written by Fabriano Fabbri, the author, the best professor I've ever had and Saberi's friend. I read this book many times for his exam, and I would advise you to consider this essay as the main one by reading it and looking at the pictures of the collections mentioned at the same time. This really makes you understand BBS brilliant ideas.
As a Valentino, Armani, YSL, Chanel, Dior, etc. lover, I used to define this kind of style "weird", but it's my favourite fashion monograph so far, and now that kind of fashion doesn't seem so special if compared to this.
There are only a few pages to read, but they are enough to make you step into Saberi's philosophy. The authors of the essays do not describe him as if he was God and they do not limit themselves to say how talented he is either. They analyze his creations, they are curious to know what he will create in the future, and they seem really fascinated by his works. This is not one of those boring monographs that tells you anything about the fashion designer's life ignoring what he really does.
The photographs are intense and the essential graphic makes them pop. No frills, just beautiful pictures.
"Boris Bidjan Saberi 11" is quite pricy, but it worths every single penny.

Questa è la prima monografia su Boris Bidjan Saberi. Ovviamente la prima cosa che ho notato è stata la copertina. È ruvida al tatto in modo piacevole e il titolo è impresso in basso. Forse perché il tatto è fondamentale per apprezzare al massimo gli abiti di Boris? Non lo so.
La fotografia sul davanti è un dettaglio di uno dei suoi capi e lo stesso laccio che vediamo in alto è anche un segnalibro in questo caso. Quella sul dietro mostra la parte superiore di un paio dei suoi famosi pantaloni.
La prima parte del libro contiene sei saggi bilingue scritti in italiano e in inglese. Ognuno di essi è abbastanza breve e racconta al lettore delle origini, dell'ispirazione e delle tecniche dello stilista.
L'ultima parte contiene alcune foto dell'ispirazione, delle collezioni, del backstage di Saberi e qua e là possiamo trovare alcune citazioni e testi di canzoni.
Il primo saggio è stato scritto da Fabriano Fabbri, l'autore, il docente migliore che abbia mai avuto e un amico di Saberi. Ho letto questo libro molte volte per il suo esame e vi consiglierei di considerare il suo saggio quello principale leggendolo e guardando le immagini delle collezioni citate contemporaneamente. Questo fa davvero capire le idee brillanti di BBS.
Da amate di Valentino, Armani, YSL, Chanel, Dior, ecc., definivo questo stile "strano", ma è la mia monografia di moda preferita finora e adesso quel tipo di moda non sembra poi così speciale se paragonata a questa. Ci sono solo poche pagine da leggere, ma sono abbastanza per farvi entrare nella filosofia di Saberi. Gli autori dei saggi non lo descrivono come se fosse Dio e non si limitano nemmeno a dire quanto sia bravo. Analizzano le sue creazioni, sono curiosi di sapere cosa creerà in futuro e sembrano davvero affascinati dai suoi lavori. Questa non è una di quelle monografie noiose che ti dicono tutto sulla vita dello stilista ignorando quello che fa veramente.
Le fotografia sono intense e la grafica essenziale le mette in risalto. Niente fronzoli, solo bellissime foto.
"Boris Bidjan Saberi 11" è abbastanza costoso, ma vale ogni singolo centesimo.

When it comes to tattoos, people around me are divided in half. One half considers them art. The other half considers them shit. For example, when I showed my mum some pictures of Fedez, the Italian rapper you see above, she said "If he wasn't this tattooed, he would be handsome".
Although I use other means to feel more beautiful, I think people can do whatever they want with their body.
The most tattoed people in the world impress me, but what impresses me more is the fact that most people where I live have at least one. This proves that this type of body modification have become really important in our culture and in the current beauty concept.
I really like it when friends tell me the stories behind those dates, initials, phrases, and drawings on their skin, but when I watched a video about this guy I learnt something new.
In this video he says "Everytime people talk about tattoos they start thinking of the meaning, of how and the reasons why we got it, and, most of all, the same phrase I hate It's ok now, but what will you do when you are old?. People don't realize that a tattoo is an art form beyond the meaning and according to my opinion a tattoo is like having my favourite t-shirt on. So if today I decided to get a tattoo of a washing machine containing a brain which spits out blood it doesn't necessarily mean I've done it to remember a girlfriend or a dead pet".
People who don't have tattoos like me is convinced that getting a permanent drawing on the skin implies a long time spent thinking about a special something to be remembered not only in someone's mind, but sometimes it doesn't.

Quando si parla di tatuaggi, la gente intorno a me sono divise a metà. Una metà li considera arte. L'altra metà una merda. Per esempio, quando ho mostrato a mia madre delle foto di Fedez, il rapper italiano che vedete in alto, ha detto "Se non fosse così tatuato, sarebbe bello".
Benché io usi altri mezzi per sentirmi più bella, credo che le persone possano fare quello che vogliono con il proprio corpo.
Le persone più tatuate del mondo mi impressionano, ma quello che mi impressiona di più è il fatto che dove vivo la maggior parte della gente ne abbia almeno uno. Questo dimostra che questo tipo di modificazione del corpo è diventata molto importante nella nostra cultura e nel concetto di bellezza attuale.
Mi piace molto quando i miei amici mi raccontano le storie dietro quelle date, iniziali, frasi e disegni sulla loro pelle, ma quando ho guardato un video su Fedez, un rapper italiano, ho imparato qualcosa di nuovo.
Nel video dice "Ogni volta che si parla di tatuaggi parte il pippone del significato, del come, perché te lo sei fatto e, soprattutto, la solita frase che odio Ma scusa, adesso va bene, ma quando sarai vecchio come farai?. Cioè, si trascura sempre il fatto che il tatuaggio è anche un'arte fine a se stessa al di fuori dei significati e per quello che mi riguarda il tatuaggio è un po' come avere addosso la tua maglietta preferita. Quindi se oggi ho deciso di tatuarmi una lavatrice con dentro un cervello che schizza sangue non vuol dire necessariamente che l'ho fatto per ricordarmi di una fidanzata o qualche animale domestico defunto".
Chi non ha tatuaggi come me è convinto che farsi fare un "disegno permanente" sulla pelle sottintenda un lungo periodo passato a pensare a qualcosa di speciale da ricordare non sono nella testa, ma a volte non è così.

I think we shouldn't follow fashion sometimes, for example, for eyebrows. They are fundamental, and if they are too made up, they can ruin your face. If we are talking about men's, it is even worse. There is not a fine line between grooming them and look like a woman. I chose this picture of the football player Stephan El Shaarawy because his eyebrow shape totally look like mine!
Usually men's eyebrows are fuller and thicker than women's, so why should men pluck them so harshly? They look too defined, and unnatural, I hate them.
I think the best way to groom male eyebrows is to pluck only if necessary, respect their natural shape if suited for your face, and trim you hairs a little bit. David Gandy ones are a good example, they look natural and groomed at the same time.

Credo che non dobbiamo seguire la moda a volte, per esempio, per le sopracciglia. Sono fondamentali e se sono troppo artefatte possono rovinare il viso. Se parliamo di quelle degli uomini, è anche peggio. Non c'è una linea sottile tra il curarle e sembrare una donna. Ho scelto questa foto del calciatore Stephan El Shaarawy perché la forma delle sue sopracciglia è uguale alla mia!
Normalmente le sopracciglia maschili sono più piene e spesse di quelle femminili, quindi perché dovrebbero strapparle esageratamente? Sono troppo definite e innaturali, le odio.
Credo che il modo migliore per curare le sopracciglia maschili sia depilarle solo se necessario, rispettarne la forma naturale se adatta al viso e tagliare un po' i peli. Quelle di David Gandy sono un buon esempio, sembrano naturali e curate allo stesso tempo.
Quale tipo preferite? Vi piace quando gli uomini si depilano le sopracciglia?
