Color blocking derives from art and refers to those works which contain color blocks (do you know Piet Mondrian?). 

We are too young to remember Mondrian collection by Yves Saint Lurent in 1965, but I think everyone knows Gucci created an amazing one a few years ago. It was very bright, bold and showed many ways to use colours in winter too. Color blocking is a difficult trend to adopt, it's not about choosing too many bright colours and wearing them in the same outfit and they did an excellent job. 

When I first saw that fashion show, I suddenly felt like playing with colours and I started doing it so. I did it gradually and added more colours to my outfits by mixing a neautral colour, a bright one and a metallic. I created this board on Stylight to give you and example.

Siamo troppo giovani per ricordare la collezione Mondrian di Yves Saint Laurent del 1965, ma credo che tutti sappiano che Gucci ne ha creata una bellissima qualche anno fa. Era molto accesa, audace e mostrava diversi modi per usare i colori anche d'inverno. Il color blocking è un trend difficile da adottare, non significa scegliere troppi colori accesi e indossarli tutti nello stesso outfit e hanno fatto un ottimo lavoro.

Quando ho visto quella sfilata per la prima volta, mi è subito venuta voglia di giocare con i colori e ho iniziato a farlo. L'ho fatto gradualmente e ho aggiunto più colori ai miei outfit mixando un colore neutro, uno acceso e uno metallico. Ho creato questo board su Stylight per farvi un esempio.

How To Fold A Bra

Spring is always a good excuse for spring cleaning. I was tidying my lingerie up when I noticed some bras of mine changed shape. As a lingerie addict, it was such a shame I didn't know how to fold a bra correctly. Then a friend of mine told me how to solve the problem and I would like to share it with you in case you don't know how to do yet.

La primavera è sempre una buona scusa per le pulizie di primavera. Stavo riordinando l'intimo quando ho notato che alcuni dei miei reggiseni avevano cambiato forma. Da drogata di lingerie, era una vergogna che non sapessi come piegare un reggiseno correttamente. You can never go wrong with neutrals. Here in Italy it isn't hot yet, so I matched this warm and soft cashmere cardigan with a flouncy blouse underneath. The top is quite large, so I chose a pair of skinny jeans to balance it out and a pair of ankle boots. Would you tell I love cat eye sunglasses?
I would wear this outfit to work.

Non potete mai sbagliare con i colori neutri. Qui in Italia non è ancora caldo, quindi ho abbinato questo cardigan caldo e soffice in cashmere con una camicetta svolazzante sotto. La parte sopra è abbastanza larga, quindi ho scelto un paio di jeans skinny per bilanciarlo e un paio di stivaletti alla caviglia. Direste che amo gli occhiali a farfalla?

This one is my favourite. It is a great way to pair that elegant lace dress that - almost - all of us own up. Wearing a cozy sweater on top, over-the-knee high tights, flats, cat eye sunnies and a huge bag is the best way to be sexy, feminine and comfortable during the day.
How do you pair lace up? Do you wear it in the daytime? I think that the key is to avoid dark colours and eye-catching cuts.

Questo è il mio preferito. È un ottimo modo per abbinare quel vestito di pizzo elegante che (quasi) tutte noi abbiamo. Indossarci un maglione comodo sopra, calze sopra il ginocchio, ballerine, occhiali a farfalla e una borsa enorme è il modo migliore per essere sexy, femminili e comode durate la giornata.

How To Avoid Muffin Tops

"Muffin-top" is a generally pejorative slang term used to describe the phenomenon of overhanging fat when it spills over the waistline of pants or skirts in a manner that resembles the top of a muffin spilling over its paper casing, says Wikipedia.

Here are some tips to prevent it.

1. Cover up the problematic area in a cute way, there's no need to lose our femininity when we have to cover parts of your body. Wear flowy and cute tops like these one above. 2. Accentuate you waistline! It's always good to cinch the waistline to give our body an hourglass shape, but this time is fundamental. 
1 - Peplum tops are big this season, and they are perfect if they are not so voluminous on the hip area and if your tummy is not so flat. 
2 - The printed blouse accentuates your waistline, its V- neckline elongates the neck, and it's a great choice if your breast is small. 
3 - The blue dress has a fitted bodice, and a soft skirt to cover the hips. The waistline is located a little bit higher than the natural one, so it also elongates the legs.
4 - 5 This purple skirt is the best thing if your hips are not that large, while the black skirt is a better choice if you have larger hips, because you can match it with a loose blouse  to cover them without adding volume. Remember: if you wear something flowy on top, make sure that what you wear on bottom is tighter. 
6 - This dress is also suited for those girl who have broad shoulders due to its cap sleeves, and, again, it's fitted on top and has a flared skirt. 
7 - If your hips are large, wear a pair of jeans similar. They are high-waisted and hug your hips beautifully without making them look larger.

2. Accentuate il punto vita! E' sempre un bene stringere la vita per conferire al nostro corpo una figura a clessidra, ma questa volta è fondamentale.
1 - I top peplum sono molto di moda in questa stagione e sono perfetti se non sono troppo voluminosi nella zona dei fianchi e se la vostra pancia non è proprio piatta.
2 - La camicia stampata accentua il punto vita, la sua scollatura a V allunga il collo ed è un'ottima scelta se avete il seno piccolo.
3 - L'abito blu ha un corpino attillato e una gonna morbida per coprire i fianchi. Il punto vita è posizionato un po' più in alto rispetto a quello naturale, quindi allunga le gambe.
4-5 Questa gonna viola è la cosa migliore se i vostri fianchi non sono così larghi, mentre la gonna nera è una scelta migliore se avete i fianchi più larghi, perché potete potete abbinarla ad una camicetta larga per coprirli senza aggiungere volume. Ricordate: se indossate qualcosa di svolazzante sopra, accertatevi che quello che indossate sotto sia più stretto.
6 - Questo abito va bene anche per quelle ragazze che hanno le spalle larghe grazie alle maniche ad aletta e, ancora, è aderente sopra e ha la gonna svasata.
7 - Se avete i fianchi larghi, indossate un paio di jeans simili. Sono a vita alta e avvolgono perfettamente i vostri fianchi senza farli sembrare più larghi.

How To Feel More Beautiful

Feeling beautiful is not only about buying a lipstick that fits our skin undertone or gathering our hair in a stunning updo. Things like these can help, but there’s more. Here are some tips to help you feel more beautiful.

1. Pamper yourself, every day try to take at least a few minutes to do what you like and what makes you feel better and beautiful. I love reading books, and preparing home made face masks.  

2. Love your body, take care of it. Eating clean, smoking and drinking as less as possibile if you do, and working out will not only allow you to stay – or get – fit, but your life will be healthier and you will feel better of yourself.

3. Take care of your skin, a good skin care routine helps prevent blemishes, breakouts, spots, wrinkles, and your face makeup will be flawless. Cleanse and moisturize your skin everyday in the morning and the evening. 

4. Being more beautiful means enhancing what we have, for example by buying the right clothes for your body shape - I'll keep writing posts like this -, by wearing the right makeup for your face shape and features, by choosing a haircut that compliments your face*. 

5. Being truly beautiful doesn’t mean being it only on the outside, be nice to people, hating on them will make you appear and feel worse. Be positive, it can be hard, but it's good for you and for who you have around. Focus on what you have and think that after all your life is beautiful and you are not that unlucky. 

6. Be happy and smile! Smiling always make you look more beautiful, except if your teeth are like these.

Sentirsi belle non significa solo comprare un rossetto che stia bene sul nostro incarnato o raccogliere i capelli in un'acconciatura fantastica. Cose come queste possono essere d'aiuto, ma c'è di più. Ecco alcune dritte per  aiutarvi a sentirvi più belle.

1. Coccolatevi, ogni giorno cercate di prendervi almeno pochi minuti per fare quello che vi piace e quello che vi fa sentire meglio e più belle. Io adoro leggere libri e preparare maschere facciali fatte in casa.

2. Amate il vostro corpo, prendetevene cura. Mangiare sano, fumare e bere il meno possibile se lo fate e fare attività fisica non solo vi permetterà di rimanere (o mettervi) in forma, ma la vostra vita sarà più sana e vi sentirete meglio con voi stesse.

3. Prendetevi cura della vostra pelle, una buona routine della cura della pelle aiuta a prevenire rossori, sfoghi, macchie, rughe e il vostro trucco viso sarà perfetto. Detergete e idratate la pelle tutti giorni mattina e sera.

4. Essere più belle significa esaltare quello che abbiamo, per esempio comprando gli abiti giusti per il proprio fisico (scriverò più post come questo), indossando il trucco giusto per la forma del proprio viso e dei propri lineamenti, scegliendo un taglio di capelli che stia bene sul vostro viso*.

5. Essere veramente belle non significa esserlo solo fuori, siate carine con le persone: odiarle vi farà sembrare e sentire peggio. Siate positive: può essere difficile, ma fa bene a voi e a chi avete intorno. Concentratevi su quello che avete e pensate che dopotutto la vostra vita è bella e non siete poi così sfortunate.

6. Siate felici e sorridete! Sorridere vi fa sempre sembrare più belle, a meno che i vostri non siano così.

How To Get Pretty In A Hurry

Scenario: you have to hang out. Your boyfriend calls you and tells you "I'll pick you up at... I don't know. I don't even know where to go" and you are still in your underwear. So you don't know what to wear, how to do your makeup and hair because both of you have no idea when and where to meet.
Don't panic! Here are some tips on how to solve this problem.


1. Do as I do, while you are having a shower think what you should wear, this is really time saving. You can pick your clothes immediately after a shower.
2. Don't get creative with your makeup, stick with the types of makeup you have already tried to save time. If you have bought new make up items recently and if you haven't tried them yet, don't try them in a moment like this. You may not like how they look on you and you may have to remove your makeup.
When I'm in a hurry, I like to wear a bold lipstick with a simple eye makeup.
3. Don't get creative with your hair either, don't try to do impossible hairdos you have never worn. Wear your hair down or grab it in a ponytail, in a bun or in a simple hairdo like these. When I'm in a rush, I like wearing my hair in a ponytail to look polished in a few minutes.
4. Wear an outfit you love and you have already worn, this is the key! Don't try any other matches, choose your best one and wear it. In my opinion the best thing to do is wearing a dress. You slip it over your head and you are ready.
5. You don't know where to go, so you don't know what the weather will be like, if the bag you wore the last time you hung out matches your outfit, don't change it, but make sure it is fit for the occasion. If you are about to go out in the evening, it should be big enough to hold a cardigan, for example.

Come essere carine in un attimo


Scenario: dovete uscire. Il vostro ragazzo vi chiama e vi dice "Ti vengo a prendere alle... Non lo so. Non so nemmeno dove andare" e voi siete ancora in mutande. Quindi non sapete cosa mettervi, come fare trucco e capelli perché nessuno dei due ha idea di dove e quando incontrarsi.
Niente panico! Ecco alcune dritte per risolvere questo problema.


1. Fate come me, mentre state facendo la doccia pensate a cosa dovreste mettere, questo fa risparmiare molto tempo. Potete scegliere gli abiti subito dopo la doccia.
2. Non siate creative con il trucco, limitatevi ai tipi di trucco che avere già provato per risparmiare tempo. Se avete comprato nuovi trucchi di recente e non li avete ancora provati, non provateli in un momento come questo. Potrebbe non piacervi come vi stanno e potreste dovervi struccare. Quando sono di fretta, preferisco indossare un rossetto audace con un trucco occhi semplice.
3. Non sia creative neanche con i capelli, non provate a fare acconciature impossibili che non avete mai indossato. Portate i capelli sciolti o raccoglieteli in una coda, in uno chignon o in un'acconciatura semplice come queste. Quando sono di fretta, mi piace portare i capelli in una coda per sembrare in ordine in pochi minuti. 
4. Indossate una mise che adorate e che avete già indossato, non provate altri abbinamenti, scegliete il migliore e indossatelo. Secondo me la cosa migliore da fare è indossare un abito. Ve lo infilate da sopra la testa e siete pronte.
5. Non sapete dove andare, quindi non sapete come sarà il tempo, se la borsa che avete indossato l'ultima volta che siete uscite si abbina alla mise, non cambiatela, ma accertatevi che sia adatta per l'occasione. Se state per uscire di sera, dovrebbe essere grande abbastanza da contenere un cardigan, per esempio.

This look is great for any skin colour and eye colour, but the brown smoky eye makes green and blue eyes pop.

If your skin tone is very similar to hers, this makeup will look great on you. If you're really fair-skinned, choose a lipstick which is slightly more pink than this.

As you can see this gown has a light brown base with many tiny sparkling silver stripes on top. She had shimmery golden eyeshadow on her lids, mat dark brown eyeshadow in her crease that followed the shape of her eyebrows, eyeliner and white eye pencil right above the black line. The cheeks were slightly peachy and the lips were nude.

In this case makeup and dress stand out in the same way.

This makeup looks amazing on brown eyes, I recreated it. If your nose is to large on the upper part, this eye makeup will help you to make it appear narrower.

Come potete vedere questo abito ha una base marrone chiara con numerose minuscole strisce scintillanti e argentate sopra. Aveva un ombretto dorato shimmer sulle palpepre, ombretto opaco marrone scuro nella piega che seguiva la linea delle sue sopracciglia, eyeliner e matita bianca subito sopra la linea nera. Le guance sono leggermente pescate e le labbra erano neutre.

In questo caso il trucco e l'abito spiccano nello stesso modo.

Questo trucco sta benissimo sugli occhi marrone, l'ho ricreato. Se il vostro naso è largo nella parte superiore, questo trucco occhi vi aiuterà a farlo sembrare più stretto.

The dress was blue so she had blue eyeshadow and the crystals on the bodice are also pink so she had pink lipstick.

This what I love doing when I'm wearing printed garments. I apply the same colour as the dress on the eyes and then pick a lipstick that matches a tiny detail of the print.

L'abito era blu quindi aveva l'ombretto blu e i cristalli sul corpino erano rosa quindi aveva il rossetto rosa.

Questo è quello che adoro fare quando indosso capi stampati. Applico lo stesso colore dell'abito sugli occhi e poi scelgo un rossetto che si abbini ad un dettaglio minuscolo della stampa.

Then draw a fine line as close as possible to your upper and lower lashline with a black pencil and smudge the lines a little bit, if you want to. Fill in your eyebrows with a brow pencil. Apply mascara. Apply foundation.Choose a light pink blush and apply it on your cheeks. Apply a pink lip gloss.
