The importance of sales clerks

As you may know, I've been studying fashion for a long time and since I'm attending the last - I hope - year of university, I started hearing many colleagues of mine saying "I've been studying so much, I don't want to end up being a sales clerk". I understand them because our course should allow us to become journalists, fashion experts ect., but at the same time this made me think how important sales clerks are. I've never worked in a shop, but I can tell you my point of view as a client.
This job is so underrated, since anyone pretty can do it where I live. Everybody likes seeing good-looking people, but are they competent? I am a fashion enthusiast, and surely am more demanding than other clients, but when people ask you an opinion on colours you can't answer "Black goes with anything" or in terms of fabrics "This is dress in viscose, it's a natural fiber".
In my opinion, the perfect sales clerk should greet and smile whenever a potential client enter the shop, thank her/him when she/him purchases something and greet her/him again. Being polite allow them to keep old clients and get new ones.
The perfect sales clerk should wear garments from the latest collection, unless they have a uniform. Sometimes this can prevent customers from trying on something which only looks gorgeous on mannequins.
The perfect sales clerk should be good-looking, because I've already say why above and because a nice body enhances every outfit.
The perfect sales clerk should know something about fashion history, new trends, what suits who, and how to make the most of the garments she/he is selling. Clients ask the personnel pieces of advice because they expect to find more competent people than they are otherwise they would do all by theirselves, right?
The perfect sales clerk shouldn't press you to try on something quickly and open the changing room for you. They should be patient, give clients the time to get dressed and allow them to get their own idea on the outfit.
The perfect sales clerk should keep the shop tidy and clean. No one wants to find wrinkly clothes everywhere or try new garments in dusty and dirty changing rooms.
Dear employers, I'm talking to you. Don't think only boutiques need qualified personnel. Average people don't have loads of money to spend, a skilled staff should help them make the right choice.
Do you ask pieces of advice when you are in a shop? Do you work in a shop? If so, what's the perfect customer like?

Come saprete, studio moda da molto tempo e visto che frequento l'ultimo (spero) anno di università, ho iniziato a sentire diversi miei colleghi dire "Sto studiando tanto, non vorrei finire a fare il commesso". Li capisco perché il nostro corso dovrebbe permetterci di diventare giornalisti, esperti di moda ecc., ma allo stesso tempo questo mi ha fatto pensare a quanto siano importanti i commessi. Non ho mai lavorato in un negozio, ma posso dirvi il mio punto di vista da cliente.
Questo lavoro è molto sottovalutato, visto che chiunque di bell'aspetto può farlo dove vivo. A tutti piace vedere persone di bella presenza, ma sono competenti? Sono un'appassionata di moda e sicuramente sono più pretenziosa di altri clienti, ma quando le persone ti chiedono un parere sui colori non puoi rispondere "Il nero va con tutto" o parlando di tessuti "Questo è vestito è di viscosa, è una fibra naturale".
Secondo me, il commesso perfetto dovrebbe salutare e sorridere quando un potenziale cliente entra nel negozio, ringraziarla/o quando acquista quacosa e risalutarlo. Essere educati gli permette di mantenere i vecchi clienti e di attirarne di nuovi.
Il commesso perfetto dovrebbe indossare dei capi dell'ultima collezione, a meno che non abbia un'uniforme.
A volte questo può evitare ai clienti di misurare qualcosa che sta benissimo solo ai manichini.
Il commesso perfetto dovrebbe essere di bell'aspetto, perché ho già detto sopra perché e perché un bel fisico esalta ogni outfit.
Il commesso perfetto dovrebbe sapere qualcosa di storia della moda, nuovi trend, cosa sta bene a chi e come sfruttare al massimo i capi che vende. I clienti chiedono consigli al personale perché si aspettano di trovare persone più competenti di quanto non siano loro altrimenti farebbero tutto per conto proprio, no?
Il commesso perfetto non dovrebbe costringerti a provare qualcosa velocemente e aprire il camerino al posto tuo. Dovrebbe essere paziente, dare al cliente il tempo di vestirti e permettere loro di farsi un'idea sull'outfit.
Il commesso perfetto dovrebbe mantenere il negozio ordinato e pulito. Nessuno vuole trovare vestiti spiegazzati dappertutto o provare nuovi abiti in camerini sporchi e polverosi.
Cari datori di lavoro, sto parlando a voi. Non pensiate che solo le boutique abbiano bisogno di personale qualificato. Le persone normali non hanno molti soldi da spendere, un personale preparato dovrebbe aiutarle a fare la scelta giusta.
Cheidete consigli quando siete in un negozio? Lavorate in un negozio? Se sì, com'è il cliente perfetto?

Chi è impegnato a studiare/lavorare anche d'estate come me, spesso non riesce ad approfittare degli sconti come vorrebbe. Come rimediare? Si può sempre acquistare online.

Ad esempio, su eSaldi trovate dei codici sconto per gli acquisti su Zalando, il negozio online che ora non si occupa più soltanto di calzature, ma anche di abbigliamento. 
Come usare i codici? Basta cliccare su “Mostra il codice sconto”, copiare il codice che apparirà in alto e incollarlo nello spazio riservato del modulo di pagamento. Il prezzo verrà ricalcolato in base allo sconto previsto. 
Alcuni articoli che ho visto mi piacciono molto e in alto ne trovate un paio.

The Sales Series - Nail Polishes

Red nail polish

Wearing matching nail polish and lipstick is classy to me. This is the best red for summer because it's slightly orangy and really bright. It's a must-have.

Indossare smalto e rossetto abbinati è di classe secondo me. Questo è il rosso migliore per l'estate perché è leggermente aranciato e molto accesso. E' un must.

Orange is one of my favourite (two) colours for summer clothing and at the beginning I was skeptical about wearing this colour on nails, but now I like it. I love the contrast between pink lipstick and orange nail polish.

I don't like pearly nail polishes on young girls, they look better on mature ladies, but if you like metallic shades choose a shimmery gold colour. It looks amazing on tan skin.

Pastel nail polish

Yeah, pastel nail polishes in general. You can find any colour you want, from mint green to pastel orange, from lilac to light blue. I like wearing them in spring, but I've seen many girls wearing them now and I like them the same.

Sì, smalti pastello in generale. Potete trovare qualsiasi colore che volete, dal vere menta all'arancione pastello, dal lilla al celeste. Mi piace indossarli in primavera, ma ho visto diverse ragazze indossarli adesso e mi piacciono lo stesso.


Nude nail polish

Some people don't like nude colours, but I think sometimes our eyes deserve a break. When I wear bold colours on my nails, I get bored with them easily and then I paint my nails nude. There is a wide range of nude colours, some of them are taupy, some are pinkish, some are beigy... I think everyone should find the right one and buy it.

Smalto nude
Ad alcune persone non piacciono gli smalti nude, ma credo che a volte i nostri occhi si meritino una pausa. Quando indosso colori audaci sulle unghie, mi stancano facilmente e poi dipingo le unghie di nude. Esiste una vasta gamma di colori, alcuni sono più taupe, altri rosati, altri su beige... Credo che ognuno dovrebbe trovare quello giusto e comprarlo.

The Sales Series - Make Up Items

This is the first post of The Sales Series and it is about make up items you should buy on sale this summer. None of them are new on the market, but in my opinion everyone should have some of them in their makeup bag. I also did some researches to suggest either high end items and drugstore ones. Highlighters

Everyone should have one whether it is a cream highlighter, a liquid one, a powder one or a stick one. If you don't intend to buy one, use a light-coloured satin-finished eyeshadow that looks good on your complexion. It enhances your tan and gives you a healthy-looking skin. Illuminanti
Tutti dovrebbero averne uno che sia un illuminante in crema, uno liquido, uno in polvere o in stick. Se non avete intenzione di comprarne uno, usate un ombretto satinato chiaro che stia bene sulla vostra carnagione. Esalta la vostra abbronzatura e vi dona una pelle dall'aspetto sano. Preferisco gli illuminanti in polvere e voi?

Cream eyeshadows

Bright lipsticks/lip glosses

Bright lipsticks are beautiful in any season, but they are even better for summer. From coral to fuschia, from red to orange, we have plenty of options to choose from. If you dont' want to wear a full face of make up, go for a simple eye makeup and a bright lip colour.

Rossetti vivaci
I rossetti vivaci sono belli in tutte le stagioni, ma sono ancora meglio per l'estate. Dal corallo al fucsia, dal rosso all'arancione, abbiamo tantissime opzioni tra cui scegliere. Se non volete avere il viso completamente truccato, scegliete un trucco semplice per gli occhi e un rossetto acceso.

Blue eyepencils

I'm a big fan of blue eyepencils because black one can bore and because it matches every eye colour, especially brown eyes. It can be used as an eyeliner or as an eyeshadow base. Metallic ones are the best to me.

Matite per occhi blu

Sono una grande fan delle matite per occhi blu perché quella nera può annoiare e perché si abbina a qualsiasi  colore degli occhi, soprattutto agli occhi marroni. Può essere usata come eyeliner o come base per ombretto.  Secondo me quelle metallizzate sono le migliori.

Cream/gel eyeliners
I've used liquid eyeliners for years then when I decided to try the Maybelline gel one I was amazed. It's cheap although the quality is very high. It doesn't smudge at all even when I wear it in summer. Gel/cream liners are the best if you don't want your eyeliner to smudge and if you are quite able to apply it (it dries faster then the liquid one so mistakes are more difficult to correct).

Eyeliner in crema/gel
Ho usato eyeliner liquidi per anni poi, quando ho deciso di provare quello in gel di Maybelline, sono rimasta stupita. E' economico nonostante la qualità sia ottima. Non sbava per niente anche quando lo metto d'estate. Gli eyeliner in gel/crema sono i migliori se non volete che il vostro eyeliner sbavi e se siete abbastanza brave ad applicarlo (si asciuga più velocemente di quello liquido quindi è più difficile correggere gli errori).

Colourful eyeshadows

If you don't want to spend much time putting on your eye make up in summer, apply a colourful eyeshadow all over the lid and blend the edges in your crease, add a couple layers of black mascara and it will look lovely. You can also mix more colours but make sure you don't look like a clown.

Ombretto colorato

Se non volete passare troppo tempo a truccarvi 

Se non volete passare troppo tempo a truccarvi gli occhi d'estate, applicate un ombretto colorato su tutta la palpebra e sfumate i bordi nella piega, aggiungete un paio di passate di mascara e sarà carinissimo. Potete anche combinare più colori ma accertatevi di non sembrare un clown.

Colourful mascaras

It's not a must, but it is a very versatile product. You can use the same mascara both on top and bottom lashes, you can apply a black one and use the colourful one on the tips only, you can use different colours, you can wear a black smoky eye with colourful mascara, you can use it alone... basically you can do whatever you want with it!

Mascara colorati
Non è un must, ma è un prodotto molto versatile. Potete usare lo stesso mascara sia sulle ciglia superiori che su quelle inferiori, potete applicare quello nero e usare quello colorato solo sulle punte delle ciglia, potete usare colori diversi, potete indossare uno smoky eye nero con il mascara colorato, potete usarlo da solo... fondamentalmente potete farci quello che volete!
